EMAIL SETUP - MICROSOFT OUTLOOK EXPRESS

Follow these instructions to install the Internet Mail Service.



1.
Open Outlook Express:

(a) If there is a shortcut icon to Outlook Express on your desktop, simply double click the shortcut icon.

(b) If you do not have a shortcut icon go to Start then Programs then Outlook Express

*If the Internet Connection Wizard opens, click Close and proceed to Outlook Express.

On the Outlook Express Menu Bar:

(a) Click Tools then Accounts.

(b) Select the Mail tab.

(c) Click the Add button, then select Mail.

The Internet Connection Wizard Should Now Start:

(a) Type in your Display Name (eg. Bill Blanks) in the field presented and click the Next button.

(b) Check the radio button which states 'I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use' and in the text box provided type your Email Address (eg. billblanks@au1.com.au) and click the Next button.

(c) Specify your incoming mail server by selecting POP3 from the pull-down menu and then specify the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, HTTP) server by typing mail.au1.com.au or billblanks.com in the text box provided.

* Outgoing mail is handled by your Internet Service Provider, you will have to call them regarding the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server settings. For example: If your ISP is bigpond your outgoing mail server settings would be 'mail.bigpond.com'.

Once all the information is entered click the Next button to continue.

(d) Specify your Account Name, which is your username (for example: billblanks) and specify your Password. Then Uncheck the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) radio button and click the Next button.

(e) On the Congratulations screen of the Internet Connection Wizard, click the Finish button.

(f) Highlight the mail account that was just created and click the Properties button.

(g) Select the General tab and type in a Name for this account.
For example: you could name the account 'work' if it is an account for sending and recieving work related emails.

(h) Select the Connection tab and check the 'Always connect to this account using' radio button. Then select Local Area Network form the pull-down menu and click the OK button.



You are now finished the email account configuration, open Microsoft Outlook Express to use your account.
